Pics ~ GTKY Day ~ Warm Fuzzy ?

This is the new pattern of dishcloth I've been making (the scanner kinda cut off the right side of it for some strange reason...)

And this is a bigger pic of it's stitches! I've made 2 of these so far... they seem to take much less time and thought than the pattern I did before.

Now here are my answers to this week's Getting To Know You Day at the CAC blog!
1. question #255 - If you had to change your first name, what would you choose as your new name?
I've grown pretty attached to Jana, actually... but if I had to change it... I'd choose Jessica (Jessi)

2. question #158 - What is your favorite saying, quote, or expression?
Saying? "Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons - for you are small, and crunchy, and taste good with ketchup" (or something like that)
Quote? "Resistance is Futile" (from the Borg lol)
Expression? "Holy Crap!" "Stupid piece of crap!" lol I say those, lots.

3. question #49 - If you could buy any rare collection in the world, which would you choose? Why?
I have no idea what I'd buy. a rare collection of wild flowers? *shrug* There's nothing I really want, except maybe a collection of yummy chocolates! lol OH WAIT! I'd like Egyptian artifacts. Yep. That's what collection I'd choose!

4. question #1 - If you could fly in a hot-air balloon over any city in the world, what city would you choose? Why that city? Have you visited there before?
I would probably throw up if I went anywhere near an air balloon. (Heights are evil!)

5. question #221 - What is an item you own that has a minimal monetary value but has such sentimental value that you would not sell it for $5,000?
My dad's watch, a gift M gave me, notes from James, and a few other assorted things.

Warm Fuzzies time!!!! This week's Warm Fuzzy Bonding Question is:
If you were a celebrity, which societal issue would you use your fame to draw attention to and help?

I like the idea of a hot air balloon ride, but I'm not sure I could really do it either!! Great answers! :)

Wow, which societal issue would I use my fame for... I'm not sure. There are so many. I would do something to overhaul the Social Services system in the United States. It is so screwed up! I would want to make it so people are rewarded for trying to better themselves and their children. I also think there should be some limit put on the number of children you can put on Social services so women don't keep having babies just to get another "check".

BTW, did you use the granny square? Speaking of granny, I was talking to my sister today and grandma has a new puppy! Got it Saturday for her birthday. It's a chiwawa(sp?) mix and I guess grandma really loves the dog. How cute!

lol! I have a t-shirt with "Resistance is Futile" on it.

And now I'll answer your question... I would use my fame to draw attention to the problem facing the poor in our society. The system is broken and we need to fix it. There are so many things we can do to help people who do not make enough money to take care of themselves and their families.

lovely dishcloths my dear :)

to answer your question, homelessness. it is such a huge issue and needs to be addressed in conjunction with affordable housing, education and mental health. i carry organic oranges with me and hand them out when asked for change ... its a small thing and i wish i could do more, someday ...

Very cool dishcloths Jana! My youngest is Jessica and I like "holy crap" because at least it's holy ;)

Is it weird that your dishcloth looks warm and comfy and cuddly? Like a mini-blanket? :-)

1. When I was young, I wanted to be Samantha (Sam). But now I like my name, so I don't really want to change it. Did I tell you that people at dance have given me nicknames? One is "Giggles" and one is "Goofy". LOL

2. My favorite saying? I say "holy crap" a lot, too. Hee. Dragons.

Oh, I also say, "I do not like it, Sam-I-Am."

3. Oooh...rare collections...hm...if you have the Egyptian artifacts (with a Stargate...?) then I will choose something else. Oh! Old Big Band Swing records and a Victrola. "Victrola" is a fun word.

4. A hot-air balloon?! Oooh...I'd really like to hover over Denver, because I like to look at where I live from above and be like, "Hey, that's the nearby reservoir and I live over there and that's the building I dance in on Friday nights!" There's more of a connection to this city, to make the views more interesting.

5. Oooh...books that my husband gave me. "Tuck Everlasting" (his favorite book as a kid) and "The Dragonlance Series" (his favorite series as an adult). Those are the kinds of thoughtful gifts he gives.

Celebrity...maybe how there are not enough rhinestone-encrusted doggy purses for my toy chihuahua and toy poodles. Also, world peace. Heh. I'd like to think I'd tackle something deeper, like how there are children and children needing real homes, here in the U.S. I'm fine with celebrities and regular folk taking children from horrendous situations abroad, which sometimes brings focus to the terrible human rights violations in those countries, but I think the kids in our home cities are important, too.

Also for the celebrity question, I'd really like to speak out against abortion, it poses as "merciful" but is actually the ultimate human rights violation.
