Back to Blogging
No, our marriage is not over, we are not seperating except physically while we try to salvage our financial life, get heat turned on in our house, and destroy the evil substance known as mold from our casa. I won't go into the crap I'm taking for this, the humiliation in front of the students at my job (thanks mother-in-law, that was kind. But in happy news, all of my friends hate you, which does give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.), and in front of my coworkers because of hateful gossips. (And if you want to give me advice concerning my marriage, right now is not the time, unless you can avoid thrown objects VERY well, because my aim completely rocks.)
I've learned a lot from it... like the fact that when I went off of my anti-anxiety medicine and thought my life was so much better... I was really just making my life into a bubble. I cut everyone but my husband out... barely saw friends, avoided family, and made my home into my refuge filled with peace and art and love. Now I can't hide... my refuge is gone... and I'm falling apart. Debating medication again, but trying to see if I can make it on my own, learn from this experience, maybe grow through it.
Completely filled with anger right now... anger at life, at people, at everything. Depressed... but making it. Still working on my house, still living my life, just not really myself at the moment. Dealing with social anxiety, crap at work, feeling like a failure to God, my husband, my friends... completely imperfect and not at all okay with it.
But whatever. Life is wierd, and crazy, and people suck... but some people don't suck. I've lost my peace and security, but I've gained a friend who is now my sister... which is fun and interesting. The Princess will be introduced to you all in a later post.
For now I need to mud a wall so James can sand it tomorrow, and then I can paint when I get home. Wooo hooo! Each drop of paint, each glob of mud neatly smeared, brings us one step closer to moving back into my home. Until that day comes... I'm gonna jump into this wierdly imperfect new life I've found... make new friends, enjoy my new social life, and just generally rock the world with my awesome cuteness.
Or possibly just take a nap.

Life Updates in Pictures
Here are greens and brocolli growin in my garden, along with weeds and the impossible-to-remove poppies.
My husband has decided to grow a goatee. HOT, is he not? it's getting longer and fuller these days too.
As always, poison ivy is attempting to steal my soul. Here it is growing in my garden/poppy patch.

Updates on Jana's Life
In news here:
I have completed several things from my 101 things in 1001 days project:
#3 Volunteer at WILL center or Special Olympics - Completed this today by volunteering at the Special Olympics. I worked at the volunteer sign-in tent, so didn't have much contact with the athletes or families, but it was really a great experience either way. Next year I'd like to interact more with the athletes.
#4 Volunteer at the ICU where my dad died, or at a CODA shelter - I tried to volunteer at the CODA shelter, but got no response when I e-mailed them about it. Felt deeply annoyed, so I volunteered elsewhere.
#15. Make a Craft with Aunt Martha - Changed from "Finish Wedding Scrapbook with Aunt Martha" after wedding scrapbook was destroyed. I haven't completed this yet, but will later this month. (I think)
We're preparing to reroof our house at the beginning of July, since parts of our ceiling have now collapsed. Scrubbing everything down with bleach to kill mold, scouting yard scales and begging on Freecycle for tools, and reading book after book about roof repair and replacement.... this is our married life at the moment. I can't wait to have this all FIXED!!!
I'm learning more and more Arabic, which makes me feel happy inside.
We're doing a lot of yard work, so our yard is looking MUCH better. I'll post pics some other time.
I've discovered that my social anxiety has gotten worse. Now not only does the thought of speaking a foreign language to someone I know make me ill, but the thought of making a new friend makes me want to projectile vomit with fear. (Okay, that was a little bit overdramatic, but seriously... I was sick to my stomach and in tears Friday after trying to make a friend.) Why is it that I can learn strange foreign languages, program databases, organize anything that I see, and make an A in honors English... but basic social interactions make me physically ill? I discussed this with my friend Pam, and we delved deeply into my childhood experiences with rejection, and how vulnerable friendships make me feel now. I'm not really sure where to go or what to do with this issue, but it will probably be discussed (or re-hashed) on my blog at later dates. If I had time, I would REALLY like to do some intuitive collage regarding this... maybe tomorrow afternoon.
Now it's time for bed... I'll try to post on here more often and be a better blog-reader, but no promises. Econ 100 will be starting this Monday and I'll have 4 quizzes and one final exam each week... I'll be a bit busy. LOL

Breaking News:
I've been trying to get pregnant for months and months....
Do I suck because I feel like throwing things at her?
UPDATE: It seemed to be a false alarm (Though she is not positive, since it may just be too early for the test. Personally, I think it's probably just pre-period symptoms.) and she has gone home. I still want to throw things at her, but I maintained a friendly and joking demeanor, and so on and so forth.
Now I'm just tired, and in need of pleasant dreams and a hug or two. With this week's paycheck, I am going to pay off my doctor, and try and put some money in a secret savings account for roof repairs. Once the roof is completely fixed, or we KNOW we'll have the money to have it completely fixed, I'll go to a fertility specialist. I'll also be able to get my thyroid and things checked out... and be able to see MY doctor again, instead of visiting a random clinic.
In sad news, I still want my mouse calendar. I cried thinking about it today... I don't understand what it is that I really want, that the calendar means to me. Safety and love, maybe... or just the candy inside the calendar lol

Why Me?
I get all kinds of cleaning done, happily get water heating up in a pan on the stove to shower with (Yes, we still have no hot water. 10 months now...) so I won't reak of BO as we go to church, and remember that I have to see what Christmas decorations we have so I can bring them into work tomorrow. So, as the water is heating up, I go out to the laundry room to find the boxes of decorations.
First of all, one box seems to be lost. Which would be bad, except... the two boxes that I did find? Ruined. Everything except the glass ornaments and the lights (possibly) were ruined. Between water damage (how the heck did they get water damage?!), mildew or mold of some sort, and mice... almost everything is ruined.
I could have handled all of that... but when I got to the bottom of the first box, I saw a spider.
And I even could have handled that... had I been able to find the mouse advent calendar that I've had since childhood. The one that every year my mom would put a candy in each days slot, and as the mouse moved into a new day I got to eat the candy. I NEED that calendar!!!!!!!!!!! That stupid calendar is one of the few childhood things I have left that make me feel safe and comforted... I can't loose it! I really really really NEED that calendar. More than I can even understand.
So maybe the other box of decorations are in the trunk of my car (God knows what is in the trunk of my car.) or at my Mom's house... I don't know.
Life is SO unfair. I have no idea what I could even have DONE to deserve this... the laundry room evindently has a leak of some kind (leaky room number 3, sometimes 4... the bathroom leaks when it rains really hard.) , the back bedroom has leaked so badly that everything in it has a dusty whitish-green coat of mold on it, and our bedroom leaks so bad that it wakes me up when it rains outside. I can't even count how many things have been ruined in the year and a half that I've owned this house.
And all of this, every stupid rotten unfair thing, I could handle... if I could just wash it away with a good shower.

Neglect & Commitment
The office, the one room in our house devoted to my hobbies and used almost exclusively by me, is the worst kept room in our house. It isn't just a little messy, or a little trashed... It is completely and utterly out of control.
This housekeeping tells a lot about me. The rooms used for everyone's benefits are far cleaner. The clutter in them is much less and much newer. They have been vacuumed more recently. They are cared for, a reflection of how I care about others, about "us" as a whole. The room I use is neglected, it's contents scattered carelessly, and the lowest on my priority list... a reflection of how I treat myself.
This holiday weekend I am making a commitment, to ME.
I commit to take only one friend to one destination (Kim to church) and no other errands on behalf of others.
I commit to working first and foremost to clean in my office, purely for my own benefit and sanity.
I commit to restablishing a solid pratice of daily collage. I commit to getting all of my supplies together and a bit more organized (but not anally organized.)
I commit to taking time to chat with God, my strongest supporter.
I commit to doing this all at my own pace, while still enjoying myself with fun things along the way.

Here We Go... Again.
Another late period...
Another pregnancy test...
Another negative...
As the symptoms progress.
This time? Nausea. Very bad Friday (and crazy constant gas. WHILE I was at my new job. ), semi-bad yesterday, very bad today. It was really bad when I woke up, then got better... now it's worse again. My period should have started Friday morning.... and to top it of, someone heard that I was sick and started the "oh, you need to take a pregnancy test, blah blah blah..." Is it rude to tell relatives to please not mention that possibility? It just gets my hopes up, and we can see how that worked out last time.
*~*~*~*~ We now interupt this blog post to announce:*~*~*~*~*~
Somehow, in our insanely rainy summer, our office (the room that needed NO REPAIRS, no painting, nothing.) has sprung a leak. Not from the ceiling (I checked.) but around the window & air conditioner it looks like? It leaked somewhere around those, under the cabinet where I keep my art-in-progress, across the floor, for God knows how long, until today it was 2/3 of the way across the floor, and I felt water seep out from under the plastic floor mat beneath my computer desk. I was like "why is the carpet wet?" I stepped on the mat and noticed water squishing... farther across... moved artisitc creations and found... a mound. The water evidently went there, and either the wood underneath is buckling, or God-knows-what is growing under the carpet. Mold is growing on the top.
I need a drink. Or my hubby. Or prayer. Or just a good cry.
After one of those 4 has been supplied, I'll suck it up and make supper, dry out the carpet, move the art, find the leak, and so on and so forth.
So much for my nice relaxing weekend. *sigh*

Renovation World - Day 2
11:00 AM The plumbing leak still hasn't been found, even after I went down into the crawlspace... Now even I'm thinking the back bedroom is where the leak is, which means we get to rip a section of it's floor out. Fun fun fun!!! Soooo... while the men are building a platform to set the toilet on, I will be cleaning up this room:
This was my room when I was living here with SuperRoomie... isn't that room CUTE?! If we can get the roof fixed and the water damage all taken out, this would make a super-cute baby room. If we don't have a baby by then, it'll be our bedroom and the front bedroom will become our game room.
My office room is looking a little better...
1:00 PM - I snaked the pipes in the bathroom (fun!) and got a little crud out... hopefully that will be enough to fix the plug. Water DID go down, to a point, and then SLOWLY drain... maybe this will be enough for us to have a usable drain? *praying hard*
2:00 PM - Two exciting things have happened:
#1.) I used a jigsaw. It FREAKING ROCKS!!!!! And we bought it, so it is OURS, FOREVER.
#2.) The toilet is attached!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would hug it, but..... ew. That's just nasty.
6:42 PM - We're "done."
Yeah, this doesn't really look done to me either. We have to put another layer of stuff down on the floor before the tile/linoleum.
This is water. It's in my sink. It's been in my sink for ohhhhh... 2 hours? I specifically told Uncle Norman that before we laid the joists, we should find the blockage in the drain, while we could get right to it. Oh, no, we could snake it he said. I told him that I'd snaked it before. Oh no, just use some foaming pipe cleaner. I told him I'd done that before too. Three times, I believe? Oh, just use this wierd air pump thingy... that might work. MIGHT?? No, I told him, it is a SERIOUS blockage.
As you can see, he did not listen. Sooooooooooooooooo... 48 hours of construction later, we have no running water in the shower. We have no drainage in the tub or sink. And the leaning toilet of death? It still leans. *blink* (James wants me to tell you that it only leans a little. I would like to remind you all, that when I moved into this house, it only leaned... a little.)
I cried like a freakin baby the minute Uncle Norman left... and then sucked it up, and we began to plan. We will get a stethoscope to listen to the floor and find where we can best hear the water spouting from the pipe, and remove that floor portion so I can fix the leak. We will rip out the closet floor in the bedroom, so I can get down under the tub and fix the blockage. And like Uncle Norman advised us, we will build a platform for the crapper, since the anal-cranially-inverted people who built this house put too long of a drain pipe below the freaking crapper.
If I ever meet the person who remodeled this bathroom before SuperRoomie bought the house? They. Will. Die.
Now I'm off to my auntie's house with my beloved, so that we can shower and be all clean and shiny! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow, we'll mow the yard (James) and paint the living room (me), and then the vacation WILL BEGIN. Adios Terre Haute! *party sound effects*

Renovation World - Day 1
This was our bathroom before the renovations. ONLY because we are going to have it fixed soon am I willing to show you this. For the year I have owned the house, this bathroom has gotten worse and worse. I have not been able to have people over to the house, except for my VERY closest friends and relatives... and most of them make sure to stop and pee at a restaurant on the way to visit me.
Notice, first, the lovely "floor" we made around the crapper. Originally, it was the top of SuperRoomie's desk. But when James started to fear he would fall through the regular bathroom floor, we decided the desk's top might work better as a floor. And it did!
Second, notice the rotted plywood underneath the toilet. The toilet was uneven and refused to seal... rotting the plywood which was there above the rotting floor... You have NO idea how disgusting that was. I think we could probably earn some money by selling the mold we grew though!
Finally, we moved the desk/flooring and got to the floor beneath... made a little hole...
And made a NEW FRIEND!!!!! It's called "lime". You put it in wet places to soak up liquids... (or in barns, to soak up animal pee I believe). And yes, my hubby was BAREFOOT on that floor.
We put down some, into the ground below the house... and look. Water was standing beneath the house.
Three 50-pound bags later... the lime was still soaking up water.
9AM: We've ripped up as much of the floor as we possibly can without a saw. Waiting for Uncle Norman to arrive and the fun to truly begin! (I accidentally deleted the pics I took at this point.)
NOON: The floor has been completely ripped out, and thank you God we did not have to take out the bathtub. Here is the underneath of my house:
OH! Are you wondering what happened to the sink, toilet, cabinets? They are in my dining room/office. Doesn't the crapper look cute in the middle of my floor? Maybe I'll keep it there as a conversation piece! HA!Pics of the area beneath the house... notice that after the three (or is it four, now?) bags of lime, there is STILL water sloshing down there. Also notice the boards, which are broken. Lovely, eh?
3:20 PM - Leak #1 is discovered. This pipe was rusted through! Leak #2 (the big one) is not in the bathoom area... I think it's in the back porch, or maybe the kitchen. James and Uncle Norman think it's in the back bedroom. We'll see who's right :o)
7:30 - We've hit several minor snags, but look! We're replacing the boards holding up the floor...
And I say WE, because I am pulling my weight. I learned today how to "toenail" nails cross-wise to keep a board in place from the sides.
Next challenge? Getting support boards underneath this section:
Which we did, surprisingly, without major issues.
11:17PM - The toilet freaking hates us. Seriously... I think it just wants me to die. We got all the joists and such in the floor, and even laid some of the flooring on top... life was going mostly good! We went to put the toilet back... tried put it on right, failed... tried again... sucess! We went to tighten up the toilet... and realized that the drain pipe for the toilet comes up higher than the floor, so the toilet was STILL the Leaning Toilet of Doom. Perhaps the toilet was angry because of this picture, where James is pretending to "pray to the porcelain god" (aka, throw up). Notice the tongue sticking out of his mouth, to add realism to the scene.

WHAT THE HECK?!
And I get to do my plumbing, hehehehe!!!!
This is what I wrote before I calmed down, and although I did over-react to James, the anti-girl plumber I sensed in Uncle Norman is still there and I am still offended. However... my husband doesn't agree with him, and that's really all that matters to me:
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Why is it that men assume a penis is required for any type of construction work? Does the penis lift the hammer? Do you use the penis to hold the pipe as you attach it? What the friggin heck?!!!!!!
*sigh* Yeah, I just realized that I have been excluded from all the work being done ON MY OWN HOUSE this weekend, because I lack the necessary penis for construction. *angry eye roll* I'm putting most of the blame on Uncle Norman, but James is on my crap list too. It's not right to expect me to sit around and knit a friggin sweater when I am perfectly capable of helping with the construction work. Cook them a little lunch cuz that's what women are for... *angry eye roll*
Unfortunately, this battle is pretty much too late to be fought... since Uncle Norman is volunteering to work (and James and I can neither one do it on our own or learn how to in the next 2 days) it would be very bad to spend my time spitting and swearing at him because he's being a chauvenist pig. I have already yelled at the hubby for putting me in this situation... there's really not much more I can do at this point. Which makes me even madder, may I just add?
It's not that I have a burning desire to work on plumbing, to get all nasty under the house and encounter all sorts of strange bugs and such... I mean, it would be one thing if the house construction was being planned and I had said "Oh, great, while you guys work I'll get this other room painted and so on and so forth..." but it's a WHOLE different thing when I'm deliberately excluded from the work, involuntarily, simply because of gender. When it's assumed that I am incapable of doing certain things, just because the typical role of a woman is to do something different.
The feeling of being powerless over my own home, the feeling of being deliberately excluded from an activity just because of my gender, and the assumption that my gender prevents me from accomplishing a task I am physically able to do... THESE are why I consider myself a feminist.

My Day Today:
All of the holes and gouges in the wall need to be filled in. I have NO idea what happened to the wall in the corner, but it is filled with wierd holes and such...
Now the only question is....

Jana Vs The Ivy - Round 2823
I now have poison ivy on my lips, chin, neck, both arms, and both legs. *sigh*
In happier news... not only did I have an awesome day with my mommy Saturday... I also transformed a small part of my house! It started out looking like this...
Now, we have this:
And this!
This room was originally painted a nice sage green (which it still is, tho you can't tell it by the color in the pics) by the former roomate, and I absolutely LOVED it. I'm currently repairing the damage from her kitty, and adding some accents of my own to the doors, woodwork, etc.
More pics to come as renovations continue!!!!!!!!!!
