Roomate to the Rescue

Sunday morning my roomate became my newest hero.

As I was trying to seperate chicken from the bones to make chicken & dumplings (more on that disaster later) I heard my roomate hysterically screeching my name.

I came in the living room to find my roomate, still in her jammies, standing in front of the open living room door. Running down the street were two extremely unkempt Chows (the dogs that look like lions? Only this one was so matted it looked more like a wierd form of Dred locks!). The roomate proceeds to tell me that that Chow attacked Psychokitty and the Demon Spawn Horde!!!! He tried to EAT Stripey!!!! Psychokitty sprung into action, leaping on his back with claws extended (Normally quite effective, but not so much this time due to the afore-mentioned doggie dred locks) The roomate saw the problem, grabbed a rake, and started hitting him with the handle. But the dog STILL kept attacking the kittens! He just looked at the roomate like "Huh? Is that supposed to hurt?" Finally Psychokitty got off of him and scratched him right across the face, as the roomate was still beating him with the rake handle!

I came out to a halfway hysterical roomate, and three cats up a very high tree! I finally coaxed Psychokitty down with some chicken... (sound effects were like this... *claws scratching on the wood as the cat skidded diagonally down the tree*... *claws scratching on the wood as she skidded the opposite direction*... *THWACK as the kitty hit the ground*... in any other situation I would have been amused by this... but since she still had to get two little furrballs out of the tree, I was pretty worried.) I petted and loved Psychokitty, who was deeply distraught and wanted love more than chicken... I checked her over, no bleeding. The kittens looked okay, although they were still pretty far up the tree.

So all in all, the roomate saved the day! All she needs is a cape and a cool new name!

I Love Mondays. Really.

Well, my week has gotten off to a splendid little start.

I got a lovely little e-mail in my box this morning, from one of my cousins. I should have known better to read it while I was at work, but curiosity got the best of me, so I clicked it's little label. I wish I hadn't.

I read these words: "Mom said that you didn't got see grandpa at all when he was in the nursing home because you said that you couldn't handle it."

First of all, that wasn't true. Anyone heard of ASKING before you gossip? And what kind of family gossips behind my back anyway? I DID visit my Grandpa in the nursing home before he died, on more than one occasion. I talked to the nurses about how he was doing, and had to listen to Nurse M (who I knew from high school) tell me what a "pain in the @$$" my grandpa was! AS HE WAS DYING!!!!!!! Because it hurt him to move, and he didn't co-operate when she was changing his diaper! AS HE WAS DYING! Even at the time, if I had seen her again, I probably would have grabbed her little blond hairs and smashed her head into a wall repeatedly!!!!

But of course that couldn't have happened. Seeings as how I wasn't there. *rolling eyes*

Then, after reading this and the rest of her e-mail (I'm horrible, I'm selfish, I need to "buck up" and visit my Grandma... blah blah blah) my mom happened to call me.

At work.

As I was barely able to control my emotions anyway.

And to top it all off, I'd read my cousins comments wrong. I thought she meant that MY mom had said I never visited my Grandpa.

So in the midst of my office, with everyone there, I lost it. Halfway hysterical, screeching at mom, "I just got an e-mail from ______ saying that you said that I didn't go visit Grandpa, and I DID go visit Grandpa!...." So I'm crying (in the office) Mom's crying... Mom DIDN'T say that BTW, my aunt did. Everyone in the office is staring... I appologized all over myself to my Mom, who was shocked and crying, and who was an innocent victim of the situation. I have cried off and on for over an hour. In the office. *sigh*

My cousin had some good points in her e-mail. I DO need to visit my Grandma, (she just had a stroke) and I did need to be reminded of that. Thanks cuz for that. But next time, can you ask me about things you hear through the family gossip line, BEFORE you accuse me?

I have no idea if this particular cuz will read my blog post (I think I told her about my blog?)... I know Amy will, (hi Amy!) and Amy you're welcome to tell whoever from the family whatever you think is appropriate. I trust you. But don't feel obligated... I WILL reply to the e-mail, once I can do it calmly and objectively. Which will probably be tomorrow.

So the moral of this rant is... I'm feeling really hurt, really betrayed, and REALLY angry... but mainly I just really need some chocolate!!! (And what a coincidence, my friend Asma sent me some from the Middle East over the weekend, which I saved to share with the office staff and am waiting until my boss is gone to surprise my coworker with! *grin* I love sharing!)

You're Fidgeting Too Much When:

Your coworker exclaims "MY DESK IS SHAKING!!!" and you look down and see your leg jiggling up and down, against your desk, which is agaisnt her desk...

She then said that she'd been noticing it for a while, and even raised her arms off the desk several times to see if it would stop!

I was dying laughing...

And may I remind you all, that this hyperness is brought to you by the now DECAFFINATED Jana?!!

Thankful Thursday

I am feeling deeply grateful this week, so I wanted to share with you all.

Today Jana is especially thankful for:

  • MY CAR KEYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Discovered in a basket of "WIPs"... Works In Progress... aka stuff I started to knit/crochet and haven't finished yet! What a bizare place for keys, huh? I found them right after I got the posts from Amy and Leti saying they were praying.
  • My friend Jamie contacting me on Myspace, after not chatting much since high school. We were really close back in those days, so I'm really happy to have been reunited! :)
  • An awesome Uno game online with my cousin Noah yesterday! I don't get to spend much time with him, because he's kinda far away, so I love how the Internet can unite us. He beat me, but it was fun anyway lol
  • God not giving up on me, even when I can't see the progress in my own life. He's working.
  • Terry, a guy at work, giving me a ride yesterday morning because he heard it was gonna be cold outside.
  • My roomate's kitty, Luka. As I worked through some of my issues this week with giving & recieving affection, I decided that Luka would be a good way to start. She and I have cuddled some every night since, and believe it or not the previously evil kitty loves to lay on me and fall asleep!!! VERY very cute! Makes it a little hard to do homework... but she PURRS!!! OMW!!! Who can resist that?!
  • Leftover Chinese food!!!!!! Beef & Brocolli, sitting in the fridge, just waiting for lunchtime... *contented sigh*
  • EMOTICONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so stinkin' obsessed with MSN messenger emoticons! I have them for every occasion almost! I've spread my addiction to Mrs D, Topaz, Princess Jami, Laurelle, and various others! My newest addition to the collection? A smiley driving a TRACTOR!!!!!! Hahahaha Yeah! Way cool! I also have a Jedi light-saber fight! Want my emoticons? Give me your MSN name and I'll share my obsession!! *evil giggle*

Fit as a Fiddle?

Walked home from work yesterday... fuming as the guys drove by me on their way out of the parking lot, one of them smiling and waving and laughing at my pain... lol

The insurance company has faxed my info to the State of Indiana, so hopefully by tomorrow afternoon I'll have my license back. Woo hoo!

I actually enjoyed the walk home last night and the walk to work this morning! (In spite of the fact that it was DARK when I left the house, and also COLD... but the feeling is now back in my legs, I covered my blister with a band-aid, so I guess it's all good, right?) My boss says I'll soon be "fit as a fiddle"... I felt like reminding him that I've been faithfully exercising for over a STINKIN' MONTH already (and now weigh 2 and 1/2 pounds less! *happy dance*), but I restrained myself. LOL I brought my digital cam with me today, figured I could take some pics of crazy stuff I found on the way home.

So that's all for now, I'll hopefully be back with pics later today! For now, just enjoy the mental picture of Jana with her fluffy hair pulled back into a loose 80's style ponytail at the back of her neck! I'm not sure how I feel about 80's style clothes coming back in (except for the "fitted pant", which should be illegal!!!! Bleck! Gross!), but some of the 80s hairdoos were kinda fun!

Meds and Healing

On a serious note, the first serious note I've struck in quite some time, I have noticed one bad thing about my month of Prozac use. I have done NO inner healing. Now, granted, it's been a hectic month. Migranes, tax classes, tax homework, reading tax chapters, and so on... But really, I've ended up missing quite a bit of church due to migranes, several Thursday kids nights due to migranes, and even two days of work. So, I have had plenty of time to get in touch with my "inner Jana" and see what's doing on with her. But what it all comes down to, basically, is that I didn't spend that time as wisely as I could have. I HAVE done domestic tasks... the day I went on my wild cleaning spree, this week's task of conquering all the laundry and re-arranging all my yarn & craft supplies, etc. I HAVE exercised faithfully since starting on the meds, and got my first weight-loss-related compliment yesterday.

But I haven't dealt with the inner Jana... the issues, the hurts, etc... and I haven't spent the deep time with God that I need to, so that he can help me to heal. In short, I just have used my "happy pill time" to avoid emotional issues instead of dealing with them.

Bad Jana!!!! I need to work on this.

I Hate Mondays!!!!!

Saturday afternoon, as I opened my mail, I found a nice little letter telling me that my drivers license has been suspended for 90 days. Evidently I "failed to provide proof of insurance" after my car accident in May. I gave the cops my insurance co name, my agent's name, and my policy number... exactly WHAT did I not provide?????????!!!!! I was kinda flipping out, but Sunday I had a migrane when I woke up so I just stayed home and relaxed.

So, this morning, I got up... planning to just pray like crazy that I didn't have any accidents or other misfortunes as I drove... but I felt like God was telling me not to drive. I was like... "Are you crazy? It's cold outside! And I'm sleepy! And I wanna exercise this morning! Nope. No walking today." So I got up, prayed (ignoring the fact that he was telling me to walk), exercised, packed my lunch... got all of my stuff...

And realized that I couldn't find my car key. I searched everywhere I could think of... in the couch cushions, in my skirt pocket, on my bed, by the computer... nothing! So, after all that searching... I ended up walking to work anyway. Silently fuming at God, because he was right and if I'd listened to him I would have had a nice relaxing walk to work, in a nice warm jacket (I was too mad to think of grabbing one as I left, so I was kinda cold by the time I got to work 25 minutes later!!!)

Now my legs are hurting like heck from having exercised and THEN speed-walked to work. I don't have my jacket, it's cold in the office, I have no Cheetos to eat for breakfast.... I hate Mondays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TGIF!!

I love Fridays! Today I came to work and a bag of "Flamin' Hot" Lays potato chips were laying on my desk! What a way to start a day, huh? Yummy! I ate half the bag (it was a little bag lol not the huge ones) and the rest is in my drawer for me to eat Monday morning!

Everyone else in the office area is gone today, so it's just me. The orders have been slow, and the day has just generally been relaxing. I'm sitting here with music on (normally music is forbidden), drinking a Diet Sierra Mist, and doing my tax homework (which seems endless and hopeless... *sigh* I suck as a student.). Tonight I'll have to finish it up (or get mad and give up) but I have a chocolate bar so I should be able to endure the homework if I have chocolate in my mouth.

Well, off to do some more studying, peace out! Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Life Today

Thought I'd give you all a quick update on life here:

Taxes:
Tax classes have started again, and instead of teaching the basics course, this year I'm TAKING the advance class. 3 hours or more each Saturday are spent in class, and we have homework each week. This week, I tried NOT to procrastinate, and started on my homework last night... 2 hours of feeling like I wanted to pull my hair out, and I'm only halfway through my homework. Did I mention that I hate taxes?

Crochet:
I joined a Crochet-a-long and I'm making this awesome camo tote bag thingy!!! I'm really excited. So far I'm like 5% done.

Life in General:
Tomorrow will be insane... one co-worker is on vacation this week. One is going to a funeral in KY and will be gone all day. My supervisor is having surgery, so he'll be gone until Wed of next week... I'm feeling stressed just thinking about it!!!!! lol But the office will be nice and quiet, and no one will be around... I can listen to music as I work... my cell phone can ring and I won't get in trouble... *happy sigh*

Now that I've finished my Hunan Chicken (which was AMAZINGLY good!!!!) I need to get back to work.

Anyone else have any great ideas for versitle toys/crafts for groups of kids?

Another Day, Another Drama

Well, today is Wednesday and the migrane is still hanging out in my head. I'm at work and made it through almost half of my day. We'll see how the rest goes.

I really don't have much news to report... but I do have a question. I'm looking for things that kids can do that are versitile (can be used for a multitude of crazy Bible lessons), fun, and not too horribly messy. So far I have planned: Misc art supplies (Craziest world contest, where the kids make a world how THEY would create it), the little tater-tot sticky things that I have pics of, Play-Doh (unlimited possibilities), and maybe Legos or TinkerToys.

What other things are good to keep kids creatively busy and relatively quiet for a while?

Oops...

Evidently the caffine-induced flurry of activity was not the wisest of decisions... I made it through yesterday okay, which was BEYOND miraculous considering I have had a migrane EVERY Sunday evening for way more than a month. Yesterday I went to church in the morning and evening, AND tutored someone in the afternoon. I was feeling all warm and fuzzy inside about this...

Until I woke up this morning. I went to read in bed, since I'd woken up earlier than I needed to, and discovered that my eyes refused to stay focused. When I got back up and got to work, it started to get worse... and worse... so, I finally told my boss what was going on and asked for permission to go home. It was granted... and now, 8 hours later, my head is still throbbing.

Caffine is definately evil! And the stuff they say about Gatorade helping migranes? Well, 32 oz of it later, the pain is not any less... so evidently that's not my miracle cure either. *sigh*

But in happier news, I did get some extra time relaxing in my jammies today LOL

Jana's Weekend Adventures

All right, in order to be transparent and open, I must admit to you all that I fell off the wagon, and am currently running (due to a large amount of caffine) in circles around it! Halfway through my morning tax class I cracked and got a large Diet Coke. Then, after class, I got a small bottle to maintain my caffine high.

Due to the large amount of hyperactivity I now possess, I've decided to give you a running log of the things I achieve today! I'll be updating this all throughout the afternoon, until the caffine eventually wears off and I crash in exhaustion. So far we have:

As of 1 PM - Exercised, showered, went to tax class, grabbed essentials from Dollar General, fed Luka (inside kitty) and Sara (outside doggie), petted and loved on Sara, yelled at Luka, turned on puter, and here I am!

As of 2:15 PM - Cleaned Luka's litterbox, took out trash load 1, cleaned kitchen table, rotated laundry, watched cat run around the house in terror of the crazy cleaning woman, sprayed horrendous cloud of disenfectant over all available surfaces in the bathroom, coughed loudly, lowered bathroom biohazard level slightly (no hazmat suit required now!), now waiting on cloud of disinfectant to dissipate so work can continue.

As of 3:45 - Took up bathroom rug, beat dirt out of it, set it outside to air out. Vaccuumed bathroom floor (shop vac), Scrubbed shower curtain, knocked over bucket of soapy water onto floor, decided it was time to mop. *sigh* Mopped worst of floor, sprayed everything with another thick layer of disinfectant, coughed. Wished I had doned my hazmat suit after all.

3:48 - I need a break! Going to Taco Bell while the bathroom airs out again. Nothing can energize you like a nacho supreme!

6 PM - Nacho supreme was yummy. Back to work!

As of 7 PM - Scrubbed shower, washed down bathroom walls, fixed broken cabinet door, dishes are soaking, fan is blowing the bathroom floor dry.

As of 9 PM - Half of dishes are washed, other half is soaking (guess I should finish them, huh? *yawn*), winter clothes have been unpacked, summer and "skinny" clothes repacked, videos re-arranged, laundry rotated, e-mails caught up, clothes packed for Goodwill, found cell phone wrapped in the covers of my bed.

As of 11:05 PM - E-mails are caught up, phone calls returned, outside kittys are fed & loved, car's a little cleaner, bedroom closet is much cleaner, tax homework has been properly procrastinated, crochet pattern books filed away, pattern for crocheted spiderweb has been found, shopping list made, plans for tomorrow afternoon solidified, new songs downloaded, parts of the carpet vaccumed, stovetop washed up, dishes put away, teeth brushed, face scrubbed, moisturizer applied to lips, hands, and face, the bathroom is no longer classified as a bio-hazard, and JANA IS EXHAUSTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to Blogger!

After over a year of enduring Blogdrives random shutdowns, deleted comments, disappearing posts, and other mishaps, I finally cracked this week and gave up.

Please be patient with me as I customize this blog and make it my "dream blog."

In the meantime, you can find my blog archives at http://peelings.blogdrive.com

Jana's Weekend Adventures

On Saturday I had volunteered to help my roomate with a kids thing her church was having. While we were there, she had the kids do this cool little craft! They had these little things, about the size of tater tots and made of a styrofoam-ish stuff, that stuck together when you got them wet! The kids (and I) made all kinds of interesting little creations...

One of the helpers, the son of my roomate's best friend, (known as X on my blog) wanted to spend the night at our house. We said yes...
He and I were happily playing a game on the X box (Halo), when we remembered that my roomate had brought all the leftover craft stuff home with her! X grabbed the stuff, I cleaned off the table, and we set to work!!!!
See the little things in the background? That's what they looked like before we got them wet and stuck them together.

I made the little garden in front (corn inside a fence), the church in the back right corner (complete with cemetery behind it, which you can't see very well) and the trees around it (complete with apples). X made the teepees, which are WAY cool but didn't show up well in the pics.

You can also see our river, (X and I made it together) our fort (X made it), our heros (aka Indians, which X found somewhere in the roomate's house), The torch the hero is holding (fire made by me, turned into a torch by X) and the deer, which you can see roasting over my fire in this one. I also made the blood coming out of it. X made the spit to roast it on!

Altogether we just had a ton of fun, and I am DEFINATELY buying some of this craft to use some Thurday night with "my kids"!!!
