The Perfect Grilled Cheese

SuperRoomie is on a quest for the Perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Do any of you have any ideas for making a way cool Grilled Cheese? She bought some Provologne cheese, and some Muenster cheese, but said they were kinda flavorless on their own. Personally, I love colby jack more than any other kind. She also bought some rye bread.

So, any of you have ideas for improving the traditional grilled cheese? Cheeses to use, breads to use, meats to add, etc?

OH! New addition to my daily blogging:

Strange Literary Word of the Day!

Today's word, from a work by Edgar Allen Poe, is:

IMMOLATE (im-uh-leyt):

To kill as a sacrifice.
To kill (oneself) by fire.
To destroy.

Want to be the first blog linked on my sidebar? Guess which short story (by Poe) the word "immolation" comes from!

The answer is "The Cask of Amontillado".

I don't personally know of any cool way to make grilled cheese. My kids like processed cheese food for theirs, and I like Colby-Jack. I also like to put garden fresh tomatoes on it in the summer time. We make grilled cheese in quantity, so I always make 6 on my griddle.

When I took my car into to get its warrant and its cv boot fixed yesterday I was flipping though a magazine and found a recipe that was for a grilled cheese sandwich.
You mixed cheese, mustard, spring onions, pineapple pieces and ham bits together and spread on to the toast and grill it
sounded yum gonna try it myself sometime
like your new layout

Yep Jana, I think that reading thing is in our DNA. I know my mom & sis love to read. My hubby is a huge reader and now my kids are too. I would read more if I had more time, but I'll have to wait awhile for that. Oh, well. Thanks for putting me in your blogger hall of fame:)

Today we tried provologne & cream cheese on rye... VERY GOOD, and I don't even like rye bread!!!!

Jen, tell me how it tastes when you try it!!!! Definately sounds interesting... ham & onion are always good additions to a grilled cheese! :o)

okay... not reading other comments... i'm going with "the fall of the house of usher." i loves me some poe.

try cotwold cheese for the perfect grilled cheese... an english cheese, bascially double gloucester (which isn't far from colby) with chives in it. heavenly grilled.
