Weekend Adventures - Part 1

Okay, so here is the first set of pics from our fun adventure last weekend

James & I had "custody" of our unofficially-adopted-daughter M on Sunday, so after going to church in the AM (after eating a McGriddle, which was yummy) we dropped James off at his church and the two of us went to print off WEDDING PICS!!! (yeah! FUN!) 3 hours later, when James got out of church, we all decided to go hiking at Turkey Run State Park, which helped my progress on two of my 101 in 1001 goals:

20. Hike every trail at Turkey Run State Park (1/10)
64. Hike at every state park in IN (1/24)

We decided that since it was our first hike of the year, we had to do "the trail." Only one trial at Turkey Run is ever talked about... Trail 3. And why is it so famous? Is it famous for it's interesting views?

(I was laying down on a log, when I spotted this cute little leaf in the tree above me. I grew attached to him after a while.)

No, although there ARE plenty of scenic views, that's not why we all try trail three....

We try trail three for the ROCKS and the LADDERS!

(Waterfall alongside of the ladder #1) The ladders here are like regular ladders... like ones you would use to climb up to an attic or the loft of a barn. The ladders come after you hike up and down a million freakin' steps, and before you climb up and over a crapload of rocks with water rushing over them.

This is the view from the top of ladder #2... my cousin Heidi fell down half of this, and scared us out of our minds when she was younger... scawy!!

And this is the view from before ladder #3! This waterfall is our sacred hair-washing site... many moons ago, when James and I had just started dating, Melinda and I went with James, and some wierd friends of his, to hike this trail. It was SOOOOOOO hot that day!!! When we got to this point, we put our heads under the waterfall and let the freezingly cold water cool us down a bit. Melinda just let it go all over her, but I was wearing a thin light pink shirt, so I tried to keep it dry.

But I'm clumsy.

And the rocks I was standing on, were wet.

This is NOT a good combination!

I slipped, I fell and landed on my glasses (whew, not broken!), and my shirt was SOAKED!!! I was SO annoyed!!!!! James seemed to enjoy the view though! ;o)

I love Turkey Run! I haven't been hiking there in about 6 or so years. The last time I went on trail 3, I nearly died by the time I got done. Mainly because of my fibromyalgia but I was determined to do it. I think if I did it now, someone would have to carry me out of there or something would break off of me! Such beautiful pictures!

Jen, this weekend is still up in the air... but it will probably not take place outside, since a cold front is moving in and the temperatures have already dropped a ton. I plan to stay INSIDE! lol

Amy, a couple of times ago, we were at TR with James's cousins... they were speed-walking through the trail, and Melinda and I cracked... as I was hurrying to keep up I stepped on a limb that swung up and hit my bad knee... and Melinda was having chest pains from trying to keep up... needless to say, we are not EVER hiking with them again. Ever.
