Pit Stops On The Road Of Life

As promised, I have a million pics to share with you all! We went a million places Sunday, so we'll start with the pics taken on the journey...

When M (my unofficially-adopted 16 year old) is traveling with me, we have a tendency to stop at random places so that she can get a nicotine fix I can take pics. Our first stop of the day was on the side of a bridge on a gravel road.

Doesn't this tree have some wicked-cool roots?! I was very impressed.

And this tree... WIERD!!!!!!!
My fave pic of this stop... water sparkling in the sun!!!! Woo hooo!
Then, a while later in the day, we stopped at an awesome old cemetery, complete with an old church-ish structure and an outhouse... and this:
Do any of you have a guess as to what the heck this was? I also took some random pics... like this one! This is my shadow at the cemetery.
I also have a confession to make to you all: I have a tradition that I must follow in the most OCD fashion every time I go to an older cemetery.

At each cemetery, I must find at least one abandoned flower... usually they are around the outskirts of the cemetery where the wind has blown them, or in a pile where the landscapers toss them before mowing. I must take this abandoned flower with me as I look for an old grave that looks unloved... and put the abandoned flower on the unloved grave. Like this:
On another random note, M and I have a tradition that we stole from her mom... whenever we eat out, we ask for extra napkins... and store them in the glovebox for later emergencies. (Like when I'm sneezy, or Jakey spills stuff.)

I hadn't seen Melinda much since the wedding, and when we looked there was not a SINGLE napkin in the glovebox!

We restocked.

All is now right in my world! :)

Looks like an awesome road trip adventure to me Jana! Thank you for sharing all those details and I love what you did with the flower and the lonely grave. :) That's beautiful.

I just wanted to mention I saw the Looneyspoon Ladies do a quiche recipe where they used croutons for the crust. Genius! I'm going to try this one, it looks yummy.

I love how you don't want anyone to be lonely or unremembered. *hug*

I used to do the extra napkin bit, I should start again, because it never fails when I need one I don't have one.

As for visiting cemetaries, I used to love to do that until I walked right into a huge black snake!! That was it for me, hee.

I believe my favorite photo is the lonely grave with the beautiful flower you placed there. Now they are not forgotten.

LOL I do that with napkins, too. I've gotten funny looks from people at fast food places. Maybe they think I'm a REALLY messy eater!!

I love that with the flowers and the graves. :)
