Yes. This ONE little leaf. So what did I do? Well, in the spirit of Inigo Montoya of Princess Bride, I stood up straight and said "Hello. My name is Jana Banana. You have made me itchy. Prepare to die!"
I grabbed my pruning shears, my gloves, some trash bags, and a hoe... and began my attack!
Eventually, as I dug, I found it's root system. I was a little shocked by it's root system, but decided to follow each root until I had completely removed every fiber of it from the ground.
It led me to some interesting places... and I found out that the ivy was attacking on different sides!!!!
It was attacking my fence...
And my tree! *offended*
At that point, I just plain got ticked off!!! I dug and dug and dug and dug until I got EVERY PIECE I COULD FIND of that stupid root system out! And can you believe, that from just that one little ivy, I unearthed ALL THESE ROOTS?!
(Doesn't Luka make a cute model by the gnormous pile of ivy roots?)
Since Luka was so good, I decided to give her a hug. Together, we celebrated the immoliation of our first ivy plant this year! WOO HOOOOO!!!
Not to be left out, Sarah-doggie begged James to take a picture of her too...
Is that not the weirdly-cutest pic??
About 2 hours after I started on my ivy-elimination quest, after I had gotten way sick from the heat, I finally tossed all the roots in a trash bag, and happily went back inside. (Yes, I was wearing a long-sleeve shirt... I couldn't find any short-sleeved ones that were clean! *sigh* I scrubbed myself down as much as humanly possible, to try and make sure there was no ivy oils on me... But we'll see how well that works.
Either way, A WHOLE IVY PLANT IS DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooo hooooo!!!
