Halloween is HERE!!!!

Happy Halloween everyone!!!!

I sadly don't have my trick-or-treating pics with me at work today, but let me just tell you that we had a lot of fun! We're taking Jakey & Gracie out tonight again, so new costumes for the grownups! (And for Gracie... hers was too long and she tripped.)

I hope to have pics of us all last night, and pics of my two newest box creations, posted sometime tonight.

But in the meantime... here is my question of the day:

I am participating in Art Every Day Month at Leah's blog during the month of November. My plan is to learn one new skill each of the 5 weeks that November falls in...

So far, I DEFINATELY want to learn more about:

  • Collage
  • Papier Mache
  • Applique

My question to you all, though, is... what suggestions do you have for the other two weeks? I need crafts that don't require me to buy any supplies or that use supplies I already own (paint, thread, yarn, beads, wire, glitter paints, etc.).

And, while I'm asking opinions... do you all have any fav art/craft tutorial sites you'd like to recommend?

Why not try collaging a pendant? It's something I've been meaning to try. You would just have to punch a hole through it and hang it? That would be different.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN JANA! I hope you do get to post some pictures. I have a slideshow up right now of my neighbourhood. I gotta get my butt in gear and get my own stuff up for tonight.

My favorite thing is ATCs. They are tiny works of art. You can do any medium you like. My favorite is my Sharpie doodling. The only rule is the size. 2.5" by 3.5".

Hey! I dressed up for work today and it was a lot fun!

My boss let me borrow her witch costume, but I only used the dress and cape. I did my face and hair up like a Goth and I got a lot of compliments.

She took some pics on her cell phone, and told me she would forward them to me later. If not, you will have to wait to see me when I get my film developed.

Have fun tonight, I know we are! My boys are anxious to get started.

I was also going to suggest ATC cards...they are fun..like mini collages...you can create from things you have or do it digitally on your computer using a program like paint shop pro...and just find pictures and stuff to do mini collages..the size is small so it does not take alot..also you can do a week of creating your own embellishments using wire...to add to collages or your atc's ... I hope to see lots of pics...I was going to join create art everyday..but I do not think I could keep...but I am going to try on my own and see what happens.
Have a great HALLOWEEN!!!

Hmm, looking over your supply list - what about weaving/macrame using the beads...or incorporating your beads and yarn into your collage for mixed media artwork - you don't have to have canvas - anything you can glue on, can work...

Enjoy! Hope you had a happy Halloween!

How about altered book? I started one last year and it sort of turned into something along the lines of soul cards (another option)(google soul cards - there are tons of sites - if you can't find one, email me and I'll get you a URL). Anyways, I expect to continue with pages in my altered book this year too. You can use an old book of yours or a 50 cent one from a yard sale (hard back is best).

p.s. Nightmare has to be my daughter's favorite movie. She can quote the whole thing* even 10 years after college where she watched it til the video fell apart.
