I had the funnest weekend, EVER. I went with my cousin to the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous, and joined in the fun festivities. I don't have my pics uploaded yet (you'll get photos from my adventures all through this week), but trust me when I tell you it was a TON OF FUN! Everything in the area was supposed to be from 1779, when a battle occured in Vincennes. We dressed in period clothes, sold items that would have been found in that period, and slept in a tent! We grilled turkey burgers over a fire, and snacked on Little Debby snack cakes. *giggle*
Here are a list of things I did this weekend, that might interest you:
- Acquired sunburn (my bra hurts! *sniffle*)
- Barefoot for long amounts of time (*happy sigh*)
- Almost scalped by Indians
- Learned to play with 18th century toys
- Learned how to incapacitate a man with one finger
- Ate a yummy turkey dinner, provided by the rendezvous staff
- Learned other women shave their toes (tried it yesterday... my feet feel ever-so-much cuter now!)
- Slept in a tent, with ants and a few spiders
- Long talks with my cousin J... convinced her to blog?
- Realized my wittle cousins are adults now... planning to join the coast guard... *sniffle* When did they grow into young men?
- NO PHONE CALLS!!!! (I almost completely ignored my phone for the whole weekend... *happy sigh*)
- Sold 3 dishcloths! WHOOOOOOOO!
So, Sunday I got back home about 9:15PM , came inside, SHOWERED, and eventually made my way to bed... slept until 10:30AM! Got my lazy butt outta bed, and made my way to the deep freezer to get a yummy frozen waffle for breakfast... and found out the freezer had died, right about the time I left for Vincennes. So, I spent my afternoon throwing no-longer-good meats, (including a huge pork roast and a WHOLE TURKEY!!! I almost cried.) veggies, and leftovers into trash bags... bleaching the inside of the freezer... cleaning the floor... (by the time I was done cleaning everything, I should have bought stock in Lysol wipes!!!)... taking out the icky trash and spraying it in bleach (so animals wouldn't rip the bags open, and eat the icky meat). Then I moved the freezer, since it WAS empty, and painted all behind it. It's still sitting in the middle of the floor, since I have to paint a second coat behind it tonight. (Tomorrow AM I'll plug it in and see if it just needed a little nap, and will work again)
Altogether though, the good from this weekend FAR outweighed the bad... I love spending time with my cousin! She's definately one of my closest friends, and that is SO COOL. I had loads of fun chatting with her sons, exploring the rendezvous with her daughters (and buying them crazy things like snickerdoodles... yum!!), and just generally hanging out. I also met a fun quilter lady and her hubby, who is the one who taught me to incapacitate a man with one finger *giggle*, and another knitter! SO MUCH FUN!
Now I'm off to catch up on your blogs, read my e-mails, and find some more knitting patterns! Whooo!

Wow! I want to learn how to incapacitate someone with one finger! Sounds like that weekend was a blast. I love those older periods of danger and REALLY roughing it! LOL Sorry to hear about your freezer. I'd cry, too, over the turkey.
Sign me up for the next one!!
I have never seen anything like that and it looks fantastic.

Glad you had a nice time with cousin J. I can feel for ya on the freezer thing. About 2 years ago we had some water in our basement. Jon unplugged the freezer to use the wet vac and forgot to plug it in and we didn't discover it until almost a week later. It was full of meat and it was summertime. All I can say is STINKY, STINKY!!!!!!
Well, I don't get tagged in forever and then in the same week I get tagged by two different people. So, consider yourself tagged, girl! Go to the second tag - just click more.
ah, bugs and dirt and exhaustion. well, I've got the exhaustion....your weekend sounds like fun. hope your freezer was just napping - too bad about all that food. I know that's crazy making!
