Hakuna Matata!!

I am SUCH a worry-wart... it's genetic, I think. My grandma (mom's mom) is legendary for worrying about EVERYTHING! My dad was NOT much better. So over the last few weeks, I've found myself BEYOND nervous. Nervous enough I thought I might have a panic attack Thursday. Yeah. That nervous. House payments, who (if anyone) will be my roomate, how to decorate, getting the roof fixed,... I have been driving myself crazy the past week.

So last night, I drag my lazy butt to church, only to hear my pastor preach about, of all things, worry. Really though, it was an awesome sermon about how to live care-free (but not carelessly), how unproductive worry is (except it DOES give you ulcers lol), and how much better faith/trust/belief is.

Then, he challenged us to try not to worry for this ENTIRE week. I whispered to the lady beside me, "you know you're truly a worry-wart, when you even worry about not worrying!" hahaha

Seriously though... 16 hours or so into my week, it's not going badly. I got nice sleep last night... found out that if Kim doesn't decide to be my roomate (no Jakey... aw...), Alison might be willing to take her place. Whew. And either way, I'm just believing that with the semi-miraculous way this house came to me, God will also help me to figure out the finances to keep it up.

"It means no worries, for the rest of our days... it's our problem-free, philosophy... HAKUNA MATATA!"

What great advice to live care-free, but not carelessly!

great post...i am such a worrywort myself...this is a sign for me...i was worrying today that i have a ulcer from worrying to much. i too worry about the idea of not worrying. i think worrying is a sort of comfort for me, sad huh?
well...you picked my favorite cartoon movie, and my favorite line and song of it...i'm going to try and ride my weekend high...and try not to worry...i'll get the song stuck in my head, so that i'll sing and remind myself.
on another note, thanks for the well wishes about my grandfather. i think i am making peace with it, and ironically cherishing the last day that i spent with him. even though it was not great circumstances...it was precious time of me sitting with him and rubbing his head. i choose to celebrate his 86 years of good living.
thank you much, it means alot.

Sounds like the sermon was perfect timing!

I also am a HUGE worrywart and also sometimes worry about worrying. Yes, I'm also that bad. When I think about worrying logically and just let it all be and just breathe, it usually goes better and I feel better. But, I don't always think about it logically. Worrying is just part of what I DO.

I think that sometimes my excessive worrying is a hormonal imbalance or something - and it could be. But, most of the time, it is just a dirty rotten habit.

Good luck this week. Can't wait to hear how it goes!

Karen Beth :)
