Throughout the last couple of days, I have tried to just be quiet and think - and realized I can't do that anymore. Well, the thinking part I can do, lol, but the quiet part? Nope. Every second of my waking days is spent with some kind of media. Video games, computer, music, books on CD, TV... there is always something going on. I tried last night to gradually wean myself off of media... tried to just listen to music and think. It was shockingly hard to disconnect that way, and I have to admit it didn't last long.
It made me stop and think - what am I missing by keeping a steady stream of distractions going in the background of my days? I've decided that while I work to connect with others, I'm going to try and disconnect from my electronics a little more. I'm not giving them up altogether (because I would go crazy lol) but trying to take some time each day just to be quiet, and see what happens.
What about you? Is there anything you need to disconnect from?

That's a good plan. I hope it goes well. :) As for me: Computer and TV! They are my vices! But I will try to cut them down. Have to, anyway, if I want to keep certain resolutions, like volunteering.
