I Woke Up For THIS?!

I woke up this morning still in a bit of a Benadryl haze, and stumbled to the shower... got dressed all nice... ready for work... I grabbed my purse, saw that it had yarn in it, and was like "OH! Yeah! Yarn from yesterday's appointments!" I excitedly hurried out the door, on my way to work.

I did not realize, until I had shut and locked the front door, that my keys were NOT in the purse.

You know... the keys that start my car? Also, the ones that open the door to my house? And of course my beloved husband was already at work, an hour away. No help there.

Next, I remembered that the back door is easy to break into! That's how I broke into my house last time this happened. Unfortunately, the back yard is fenced in, and the last windstorm blew the gate off of it's hinges, so we had to nail it shut.

I finally found a GAP in the fence! Of course, my butt was too big to fit through the gap. *sigh* I climbed the fence sorta, to get up to a wider point in the gap... Whew! Through the gate!

And into the dog's territory. *sigh* Sarah-doggie was so happy to see me! She was ready to PLAY! With her muddy paws and smelly doggie hairs!

I did eventually make it over to the door, only to find that it would not budge. AT ALL. I went back to the gap in the fence, only to find that I couldn't get back through that way. (nothing to stand on, to get to the wider part of the gap) I circled the fence, and finally found a small spot between the house and the neighbors fence that I could get through. Unfortunately, there was an old air conditioner, one of the HUGE ones, like maybe her central air system?, laying on the ground there. I climbed up on the air conditioner, and thought "yes, I made it!" turned to step down... and fell. RIGHT on my very-bad right knee.

Yes, it was as painful as it sounds. Still is, in fact, 6 hours later.

I picked myself up, and went to my car... picked up my purse, and decided to look and make sure it didn't have a spare key in it... So, i dug in my purse... and found a key! I was all excited!!!!

Unfortunately, it did not fit any of the locks on my house. WHAT THE HECK IS THAT STUPID KEY FOR, ANYWAY?! *sigh* Stupid key.

I started to walk to the neighbor's house, to use their phone, but Stuart-the-neighbor drove by on his way to work, and let me use his cell. He is now my hero. I called work... told the boss what happened, and he came to pick me up. (after snickering a bit at my pain.)

I finally arrived at work 20 minutes late, dirty from doggie paws, smelly from doggie hairs, bleeding, limping, and very cold.

I SO should have just stayed in bed today. *sigh*

Oh, Lord. What a horrible morning! I kept reading that one bad thing after another and couldn't believe that really happened. It's like something that is scripted. Life is like that sometimes! I'm so sorry this happened to you. I hope the rest of your day goes better!

So glad Stuart-the-neighbor was able to help you in your distress.

Do you feel better, today? I know you don't have to work, so that's already gotta be a better day, right? /hugs

Yikes. It would be funny except for the bleeding, limping cold part.
I hope today was a much better day!

I was shivering as I read your blog today...remembering a month ago when I locked myself out in a freezing rain and had icicles dripping on me as I tried to smash a rock through the sidelight to reach inside. NOW I know I have Plexiglas there. After half an hour of pounding and trying many ways to break in, Son finally came to investigate where I had gone. He let me in, soaking wet and cold to the bone. It took me a full day to warm up after that. Spare keys, anyone?

So glad your neighbor was passing by to help you out. And too bad your boss didn't give you the day off.

I hope your knee gets better, it did sound painful.
