Wellness Wednesday

This week, I decided to join the bloggers doing Wellness Wednesday.

So, where am I, health-wise?

I am completely out of shape.
I drink far too much soda.
My immune system is very very weak.
I have a ton of energy! (even without the soda LOL)
My cholesterol is twice what it should be.
I have a habit of eating extremely unhealthy foods.

What am I doing about it?

This Monday, I made one small change. I stopped buying Movie Theatre Butter popcorn, and began eating oatmeal for breakfast instead. My boss had all kinds of good suggestions for ways to make the oatmeal taste better. The ones I've tried:

Peanut butter & Splenda (Kinda boring)
Peanut butter, raisins, & splenda (MUCH better!)
Craisins & splenda (Pretty tasty)

Tomorrow I plan to try it with pieces of cut up apple in it, and some cinnamon... mmmm....

Anyone have any other oatmeal suggestions?

Husband and I eat oatmeal every day of the week except Sunday. He mixes in frozen blueberries, I top with no fat vanilla yogurt. Yum!

He also uses, for a switch up, cinammon and brown sugar. A little honey now and then doesn't hurt either.

I would try making some healthier oatmeal cookies to add even more oats to your meal. Always make sure to have a TON of water after you eat oatmeal or it can cause a lot of problems. To your oatmeal cereal, add some real maple syrup, just a touch of brown sugar. Yummy!

Suzie wrote what I used to use with oatmeal for my kids..a little bit of maple syrup and brown sugar...also cinnamon sugar is good and also cinnamon sugar and bananas...
You will find what is tasty for you..just keep trying different combinations...you would be surprised what might appeal to you..
I wish you the best in your Wellness Awareness...but I know you will do GRAND!!!
take care
Peace--Ellie

Golden raisins or peaches or milk, a lot of people have suggested cinnamon, and I agree. Mmmm...I also use real sugar, but if works for you, keep using it. :-) I add butter, which may take away from some of the healthiness of the dish, but if my Malt-o-Meal doesn't taste yummy, I won't eat it. Better some grains than none. :-)

"but if works for you" should have said "but if Splenda works for you". hee-hee.

I did the same thing a couple of years ago - started eating instant oatmeal every day (Maple & Brown Sugar) and gave up my Homestyle microwave popcorn. (Also switched from margarine to butter, and ate 2 eggs every morning with my oatmeal.)

My cholesterol dropped over 60 points in the course of a year.

we eat oatmeal most mornings and we throw on our hemp hearts and some frozen blueberries and raspberries :) yummy!!

sometimes, i also top with some soy yogurt but since you're not vegan, real yogurt would be yummier.
