Today I decided to participate in Getting to Know You Day, from the CAC blog! Today's topic? Adventures in Learning! I *love* to learn!!! This is right up my alley!
So, what did you excel at in school (if anything)? Do you still pursue that subject in someway or have you forgotten about it?
My best subject was always English… I loved to read, and to write. And I still do! I read whenever I can sneak some book time in (right now I’m reading Murders in the Rue Morgue, by Poe… *swoon* I love Poe.) and I write poetry and occasional short stories. I need to get a bit more dedicated… but… *shrug*
Do you, or have you believed in the myths about education?
Yes, I have in the past. I still believe it in some ways… specifically, about painting. It doesn’t come “naturally” to me, so I figure I wasn’t meant to do it. BUT… I crave the ability to express myself visually. So I guess mayhaps I should work on learning to paint, eh?
I always thought I couldn’t learn languages either, because I did SO HORRIBLE in French class… but really, I love learning languages, and now speak Spanish! I still believe that about ASL (American Sign Language), but if I really put my mind to learning ASL, I’m sure I’d conquer that too! :o)
If you believed you could learn anything with the right teacher, what would you like to learn to do?
Paint, learn about microscopic beings, and READ MORE!
If you really believed you could become a genius at anything just by putting your mind to it, what would you put your mind to?
I would learn EVERY LANGUAGE ON THE PLANET!!!
What have you always wished you understood better, or wished you could learn about?
Mmm… I would like to learn to paint, to use ASL, to study microscopic scientific things,… and how to crack people's minds, and study their contents.

Jana,
Very cool responses! You made my day.
Your last reply made me think of a book I've been wanting to read. It's called, "The Brain that Changes Itself" - or some such. It's full of studies and stuff on how we can alter the way our brains work. How we can change old patterns. (Your cracking open people's minds made m think of it.)
Let me know if you read it!
