All about ME!

Zazazu interviewed me!!! Here are her questions, and my answers!

1. Is there something you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time?

I want to TRAVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Why haven’t you done it?

Well, I have traveled locally, and to the surrounding states so far. I just haven't found a good opportunity to travel overseas... yet.

3. Do you feel that your childhood was happier than most other's?

Hmm... nope. My childhood was pretty rough actually... but it taught me so much, and made me who I am today.

4. Since adolescence, in what three-year period do you feel you experienced the most personal growth and change?

Definately ages 19-21... I went from a country girl in a tiny all-white-all-American town in Indiana to a north suburb of Chicago. I took my first temp jobs, and worked in offices with people from all over the world! I tasted my first Chimichunga, drove to all sorts of crazy places by myself, smelled chitlins cooking (did NOT eat them. Ew.), made new friends, and finally moved back to Indiana as an independant young woman. In the course of all of this, I learned that the person I was acting like was NOT the person I was inside... and began to work to link Jana-the-Internet-persona and Janet-the-boring-real-person together... and now, what you see online is just a slightly deeper-thinking version of the person my friends would describe me as.

5. If you had the choice of one intimate soulmate and no other close friends, or of no such soulmate and many friends and acquaintances, which would you choose?

I would SO choose the intimate soulmate. I could talk to millions of people, but if they don't "get" me... what's the point?

Would you like ME to interview YOU? Leave me a comment, and I will!!!

This week at the CAC blog, there are TWO sets of Getting to Know You questions!!!!

From Deb:
It's a summer holiday and you've been invited to a big family-and-friends
potluck celebration. What would you bring? (Feel free to share the recipe if
it's super-good!)

I recently tried hummus and these itty bitty garlic bagel crisps... SO GOOD!!! I am now obsessed, and will be bringing them to all informal gatherings.

Once you're there at this imaginary holiday party, how would you spend most of your time?

CONVERSING!!! I love a good chat, especially DEEP SHARING kind of chats. I would also spend time with the kids, entertaining them... because kids simply rock!

The person in charge of music is taking requests. What song would you like to hear? Would you get up and dance to it or just sit back and listen?

Hmmm... what song would I like to hear? I have to say that I absolutely love "Wasted" by umm.... Carrie Underwood? (I think?) but it's not really a dancing song.

What WOULD I dance too? Latin beats!!!!!!!!! Salsa dance steps just ROCK!!!

They're having fireworks! Would you enjoy them or endure them? Would you help set them off or sit back and watch?

FIREWORKS!!!! I'd be ALL ABOUT THEM! Either lighting them off, or trying the new fireworks setting on my digital cam!

It's getting late and the party is breaking up. Would you be one of the
first to leave, or the last person the host is pushing out the door, or
somewhere in between?

Somewhere in between, unless you're a close friend... then I'd be the last.

And questions from GroovyHolly:

1) What is your most memorable birthday? Tell us what you remember, your feelings, why it stands out in your mind.
I loved my 8th birthday!!! My mom made clothes for all of my stuffed animals! I was SO EXCITED! Grandma came for the evening, and I dressed all of the animals up... we even took a pic of them in their little clothes.

2) What is the best gift you've received for your birthday?
The clothes for my stuffed animals!

3) How do you celebrate July 4 or July 1?
FIREWORKS!!!! And usually time with my family. :o)

4) What do you value most about where you live? What do you do to show your appreciation? If you've never thought about it, what could you do to show your appreciation?

I love the beauty of the countryside around my town!!! We don't do a lot to show our appreciation, except for buying a state park pass when we can, and teaching Jakey to pick up litter he finds as we hike. We also pick up our own trash while hiking. :o)

it is so fun reading all this - I love the 8th bday party thing. I think my best birthday was my 50th. I had surprise flowers waiting for me at our favorite restaurant, along with a bottle of Dom Perignon, and then we went to the theater in the afternoon: Defending the Caveman (funny!) and after that out to eat at a nice place in DC. All in all pretty spectacular!
