I haven't got much bloghopping done this week, so my apologies go out to all my bloggin budds. Marcie is still gone, taking care of her daughter, so work has been REALLY busy this week!!!

I just found out the WIERDEST thing!!!! My friend Princess Jami and I had the SAME favorite Barbie dress growing up!!!! It was a fancy prom-type dress, and the skirt of it had GLOW-IN-THE-DARK STARS on it!!!!! It was SOOOOOOOOOOO cool!!!! Jami reminded me that the outfit had a matching parasol (also glowy), and I remember it having glow-in-the-dark shoes! WAY cool!!!!!
So, today's warm-fuzzy-bonding question (I meant to do those weekly, but need to choose a day of the week and be faithful at it, huh?) is "Barbie Memories":
What memories do you have of your Barbie-playing days? What things did you have for her? Did you have any favorite outfits? I'll put the rest of my answer in the comments!
*disclaimer: This question is not an endorsement of Barbie, her completely unrealiztic figure, her shallow life, or anything else she stands for.

that disclaimer is hilarious, jana!! my favorite barbie was malibu pj (yep, i'm a seventies child). she wore a purple one-piece bathing suit and sunglasses (which were tied on to here ears with fishing line), and she had a green towel and a tan. i remember that we ordered her from the sears catalogue, and when we picked her up i was disappointed that she came in a clear plastic bag, with no other packaging.
on your other recent posts: SO glad you're enjoying your tax job so much! yay abundance, reading, creative projects, yelling back at the stupid voice! and, not to nitpick, but you forgot to include the BEST decision you ever made whilst writing about the worst ones. i for one would love to hear the answer to that.
prayerful thoughts to your coworker's daughter.
Hmm...I remember eons ago I had a Barbie beauty shop. But I wasn't a great fan of the doll, I loved the house though. I decided to let my paper-dolls live in it.
I have a Friday Question, so choose a day for yours, k?
Just wanted to stop in, tell you I found your blog through a comment you left on a DIFFERENT blog, and say I've NEVER met another Jana online! Nice to meet you!
Oh, I promised to tell you all about my barbies. Well... I loved my barbie shoes. I obsessively organized them, made sure they were all pairs (no left-out ones), and marveled at their little cuteness. I don't remember any of my barbies being the theme ones, but I remember my mom making clothes for my barbies & all of my stuffed animals that year! The coolest one was for this giant mouse I had (named Tweeks, because you tweeked his ear and he made a little squeek). She made him a little flannel shirt and overalls!!! SOOOOOO cute!!!!!
well, now, see, I predate Barbies (thank goodness). I had a lovely Jill doll who had interchangeable earrings and as I remember a much more reasonable, but still very hours glass figure. She went with Ginny who was a lovely little girl. I remember when Barbies first came out thinking how UGLY they were (and still are). Daughter NEVER got a Barbie, not that she minded, dolls not necessarily being her thing (although she sure is making up for not playing doll dressups when dressing up her little man).
I never really played with Barbie much. I thought being outside riding bikes or playing in the mud much more fun! But the best thing about Barbie was my sister had some, and I liked taking the heads off and switching them just to bug her. Those Barbie's had cool clothes my mom made, and I think we had the Dream House and a Yacht.
Love the disclaimer!!
loved the disclaimer...i just remember playing barbies til i was at least 12. lol. i didnt have half the junk my kids seem to think barbie needs these days though
Ha, your disclaimer.... SO funny! I was never a Barbie girl. I always thought playing with a "woman doll" was no fun.... I wanted the "baby dolls" that I could be a mama to, so I only owned one Barbie my whole life and NEVER played with her. I nicely played them with my friends when they wanted to, as long as we could play House at some point too! :) I was IN LOVE with the baby dolls.
