Ow.

I really thought that after taking a day off of work to relax, my back injury would be better.

It is SO. MUCH. WORSE. I cried at my desk this morning, because the pain just wouldn't go away. I cried on the way home, because it was still there. It hurt to sit and type. It hurt to walk to take papers to different people. It hurt to move to answer the phone.

I hate being sick or in pain. I never know what I should go to the ER for, what I should see the doctor for, and what I should just "suck it up" and move on about.

So I'll ask you all:

How do you decide what to do about a sickness or injury??
(Not specifically mine... I plan to head to the ER soon. But in general... how do you know what to do?
UPDATE: Just got back from the ER. No broken bones, nothing that showed on x-rays... just strained muscles and bruised tissues he said. I have a note for two days off of work, and two prescriptions for pain meds.
P.S. - I think that x-ray techs have to go through a course in Sadism 101 to earn their degree. Douchebags!!!

usually whatever is hurting/making me sick tells me what to do. Sometimes physical therapy and acupuncture for just about anything. Sometimes just stay in bed until I feel like rejoining the living. Mostly I ignore it (unless it REALLY hurts and then I make haste to fix it somehow...naturally if at all possible, hence physical therapy. Acupuncture when the pt needs a boost. Hope you're feeling better!sorry about your camera - total bummer!

When it's that bad (and I'm so sorry it is) I give in to it. Just let it be and let the body heal. Life is telling you to slow down and just be.

If the pain is unbearably intense and lasts for several days, DEFINITELY go to the ER. And I'm glad you went. It's always good to check on those things. I am glad there are no broken bones. I'll be praying for you, too!

If I have injured my back, neck, arms, legs etc. I let my boss, who happens to be my chiropractor work me over.

For migraines, same thing.

Colds, etc. OTC stuff, if I have strep then and only then will I head over to my PCP.

As for chest pains, you all know I went straight to the ER, never mess around with chest pains.

I really do hope you feel better and those pain meds will kick in. Back pain is the worst.

OH! Don't use heat! Use ice for the sore spots, k?

Just got caught up on your blog stuff. What a weekend! I'm sure sorry about your back. Chiropractor can help with the healing of that, along with time. Sorry about the x-ray, but they have to do some things that are very painful to the x-rayee in order to get the best possible view for the best possible diagnosis.

As far as the ER, you just know I guess. If I'm in pain that is making me cry or ranks up there with labor pains, time to go. With my kids, it's if they can't keep food down with a high fever and no wet diapers. Sometimes you just know.

Heat helped my back alot too although some people really like ice. I also found that Aleve worked better than Tylenol and Ibeprophen.

Hope this weekend is much better for you!
