AEM Artistic Syncronicities!

Well, this month was AEM (Art Everyday Month) at Kat's blog, and I have to say that although it doesn't SEEM like I've accomplished anything through it, really I have!!! I have a bunch of collaging material ready, a bunch of ideas, all I'm lacking now is... matte stuff, and the time to sit down and do it. (I may go ahead and do it without matte and see what happens though *giggle*) I also had a lot of fun last night... we had "my kids" do a drawing contest, and as I was flipping to a blank page in my sketch pad, the kids saw my drawing of the Romulan. Trevor took it and pretended it was his (and didn't win the contest, because someone told on him lol), and Amber tried to copy it... we had fun. We will be drawing together more often! :o)

Then, today as I was browsing Tammy's site, I noticed a link to a Jackson Pollock site. I'd never heard of him, and was happily making squiggles at the site, when one of the guys here at work came around and saw it... that led to a HUGE discussion about art, art appreciation, and abstract art. My boss is NOT into abstract art... he suggested we all don bodysuits and roll on a canvas, and call it "humanity". In my mind, I was thinking... "Hmm... sounds fun! Can I be purple?!" But he was being sarcastic so I didn't say it out loud. *giggle* Now we've been discussing art all day... I've learned about not only Jackson Pollock, but also Sam Francis and Arshile Gorky.

So, this was all an interesting syncronicity. I had no idea the guys at work were into art at all, and am pretty excited about having a personal "art appreciation tutor" in my office space! :o) Syncronicity rocks!!!!! OH and I got an early Christmas present from my roomate... an art supply kit in a cute little case!!!!!! I have paints, oil pastels, crayons, glitter pins, gel pins, and all kids of other groovy stuff!!!!!!

And now, for your viewing enjoyment: My first good pic of myself taken with the new camera phone!!!! (Taken in my office yesterday afternoon!)

I have to second Mrs. D's comments, you definitely are. You are such a cute little baby!

I wish I could get into more art discussions, but I think I am "art challened" or something like that, hee.

I am not a fan of abstract, but I love Dega, I believe he is an impressionist?

Youre much younger looking than I thought youd look :)

LOL,about the comment your boss made about the painting "Humanity". I don't know too much about artists either, but I think if you like what you make, or others make, that's cool. I don't do art very well. I am a craft person for sure.

Here you are! I lost you there for awhile...somehow I lost your new URL. Good for you for finding some art synchronicity at work! (Found you again via a comment you left at Eliza's.)

Mrs D, next time we're online together, I'll tell you how mine works, maybe that will help. :o)

Mrs E, (hey, Mrs D and Mrs E are alphabetically ordered! *giggle*) Welcome to my blog, glad ya liked it!!!

Leti, I don't know much about art really... I'll ask the guy at work about Dega! :o) (PS I am NOT a baby. I have big girl underwear!!!!!)

Melba, thanks!!!!

Jen, everyone says that. I'm 4'11" so I will always look younger than I am.

Amy, yeah, crafts are cool. It's funny how everyone in our family either is good at art or good at crafts... And it's starting with the next generation too, Heidi is DEFINATELY an artist in the making! What are your girls into? (besides dance, which is technically art)

Marilyn, glad you found me!!!!!!!!!!!

What are the girls into art wise? Gwen likes to draw and really does very well except she thinks otherwise. She also has been learning to knit, and cross stitch but doesn't seem to like either very much. She loves to write.
Mikaela loves anything creative. She is learning to knit, crochet, cross stitch, and loves to make cards, gifts, etc. She also has really taken to baking and cooking. At 8, she can make several different types of cookies by herself including in and out of the oven.

Amy, I'm really not surprised... Gwen reminds me a lot of Jon, and Mikaela reminds me more of you. You know, at 26, I'm to the point where I'd happily pay an 8-year old to make my cookies for me. She should start a business! Does she make snickerdoodles? Iced sugar cookies? If so... Aunt Ruth my have to start a little "cookie transport" business when she visit you! *giggle*

Eliza, Awwww.... Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dyl, hey I haven't seen you in ages!!!! I'm 26, but I look like I'm 12. *grin*

That's a great pic for a camera phone. My daughter has one of those and I haven't seen a good pic come out of there yet!
